Early Head Start
Program Summary
Early Head Start offers infants, toddlers, and pregnant women comprehensive services through daily education services, monthly home visits and parent engagement activities. Parents are partners in Early Head Start. Each program provides opportunities for parents to improve their parenting skills, knowledge, and understanding of the educational and developmental needs of their children. Early Head Start also offers parents opportunities for their own growth and support in identifying and meeting goals.
Early Head Start is funded by grants from the Office of Head Start and state funding provided by the Department of Children & Families. There is no monetary cost to eligible families.
Qualifications
Your family may qualify for Early Head Start if:
- Your family’s income is at or below the federal poverty level.
- Programs may enroll some children from families whose incomes are higher than the federal poverty level if they meet other requirements.
Other circumstances that may qualify your child for services:
- You are experiencing homelessness
- You have children in foster care
- You are receiving TANF, Supplemental Security Income, or SNAP
- Child with a current Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP)
