“The Kansas Association of Community Action Programs recently released an updated Kansas Report on Poverty. This report is valuable in educating all people on the plight of the more than 25% of our Kansas population currently living at or below 125% of the FPL. Every person should be an advocate for the over 160,000 Kansans living in extreme poverty. Everyone should be aware that this epidemic of poverty infects every segment of Kansas life.
Kansas ranked last in the nation making progress in insuring children. Kansas' rate of uninsured children in 2010 was 8.2%, up from 7.4% in 2008 according to the study conducted by the Georgetown University Health Policy Institute's Center for Children and Families.
