SEK-CAP ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR TBRA RENTAL ASSISTANCE

SEK-CAP ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR TBRA RENTAL ASSISTANCE

The Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP), one of the recipients of 2012 Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) grants, will begin accepting applications for the program on September 9th, 2013.

Grants are awarded through the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation.  The TBRA Program assists qualifying individuals and families with rental subsidies and/or security and utility deposits.  The SEK-CAP TBRA Program funding will be used specifically to address the housing needs of those who are homeless or about to become homeless through no fault of their own in the SEK-CAP twelve county southeast Kansas service area.

To potentially qualify for assistance, an applicant’s income must fall below the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 8 rental assistance program guidelines, which would be $27,600 for a family of four living in Crawford County.  Applicants must also be certified as “homeless” by another social service agency.  While the TBRA application process is reopened, the SEK-CAP HUD Program waiting list is closed and will remain closed until further notice.

SEK-CAP will begin accepting applications for the TBRA homeless program on September 9, 2013 and will continue to accept them until further notice.

For more information about this program or to obtain an application, please call (620)231-5400, ext. 3, or stop by the SEK-CAP Family and Community Engagement office, 204 North Pine Street, Pittsburg, KS  66762.  Applications must be submitted to the Pine Street address in Pittsburg only.  This is an Equal Housing Opportunity.
